Interview with Maike Frölich, Country Manager Visual Art Germany

August 20, 2024

Germany is rapidly embracing digital signage, recognizing its potential to transform customer engagement and marketing strategies. Maike provides a detailed look at how the industry is evolving, the growing interest in future-proof digital signage software and energy-efficient solutions, and how Visual Art Germany is leading the charge.

From celebrating our 13th anniversary to winning prestigious awards, there’s a lot to be excited about.

What’s the latest in Germany regarding our business as a whole?

Maike Frölich: It’s fantastic to see that almost every company now considers digital signage a must-have. There’s a lot of potential to find creative, innovative, and intelligent solutions in the coming years. We’re hearing from many customers and tenders about existing customers wanting to change their current provider.

This trend is evident when you walk through cities in Germany and see incorrect content, black displays, or cables running through stores. Customers are looking for a partner they can rely on 100%.

What would you say are the top 3 trends within Digital Signage in Germany?

Maike Frölich: The top trends we’re observing in Germany are:

  1. Future-Proof Software: Large companies are focusing on software with a simple API-first approach to easily integrate existing systems.
  2. LED and Green Signage: There’s a significant shift towards LED displays with a simultaneous focus on energy efficiency.
  3. Retail Media: Many large companies are already implementing retail media trends to enhance their marketing efforts.

What’s the latest around Visual Art in Germany?

Maike Frölich: Visual Art Germany recently turned 13 years old! Over the years, we’ve established ourselves as a leading digital signage provider in the German market. Some customers have been with us almost from the beginning, and we’ve added more international customers to our portfolio, not just in the DACH region but also in the BENELUX region.

Our German office is increasingly becoming a mainstay in Europe, supporting customers outside Germany.

Our greatest asset is our employees. The employment situation in Germany is challenging, but our Scandinavian corporate culture appeals to many people. Employees appreciate our flat hierarchies and the opportunity to contribute to our growth.

We value employees who share our corporate values, being curious, brave, and responsible.

We’re developing a small in-house digital signage academy for new employees to become digital signage experts, which is paying off. We often receive positive feedback from customers about our proactive and solution-oriented approach.

Are there any specific old or new clients, cases, or other highlights you want to mention?

Maike Frölich: Winning the software award from invidis has generated a lot of attention for us in Germany, and we are currently participating in several tenders.
